Danica van de Velde is a 5ft5, brunette, bespectacled writer living in Perth, Western Australia. After completing her Bachelor of Arts (Honours), she spent an inordinately long time researching filmmaker Wong Kar-wai who was the subject of her Doctor of Philosophy. Her writing has been published in a variety of online media, print publications and academic monographs. She was the recipient of the Senses of Cinema-Monash Essay Prize in 2019.
She is particularly partial to independent publications, brunch, Japanese aesthetics, dream pop/shoegaze, plants, ikebana, artisan bakeries, ceramics, winter, French new wave, lazy mornings and keeping lists.
